EDDQ super deep drawing grade

Also known as Extra Deep Drawing Steel or EDDS, it is a steel with a carbon content typically less than 0.005% and uses low levels of titanium and/or columbium to "bind" the hardening elements to create a gap-free chemistry that produces extremely fine texture pattern. This is the most formable steel grade.

Application

EDDS is used to manufacture products that require high volume molding. It is commonly found in door trims, dashboards, body side trims and floor panels.

Extra deep drawing steel (EDDS or EDDQ) is steel that has titanium and/or columbium added to combine with hardening elements to create an extremely fine grain pattern, and is a steel that is extremely easy to form. Therefore, EDDS is the most formable steel grade and exhibits a high resistance to thinning during drawing. Like DS B-section steel and DDS steel, EDDS is a good choice for welding, but has low yields and is prone to denting.
