A galvanized steel coil refers to a steel coil with a layer of zinc on the surface. Galvanizing is a frequently used economical and effective anti-corrosion method. About half of the world's zinc production is used for this process. The galvanized steel coil is to prevent corrosion on the surface of the steel coil and extend its service life. A layer of metal zinc is plated on the surface of the steel coil. This galvanized steel coil is called a galvanized steel coil.

Advantages of Galvanized Steel Coil
Excellent Corrosion Resistance
Zinc has more reactive chemical properties than iron, and it preferentially reacts with oxygen and water vapor in the environment to form a dense oxide film. As a result, the service life of galvanized steel coils can reach 10 to 50 years, far surpassing that of ordinary steel.
Cost-Effective and Low-Cost Corrosion Protection
Compared to stainless steel or other alloy steels, the galvanizing process is more cost-effective. It significantly improves the durability of steel while reducing maintenance or replacement costs.

Galvanized steel coils can be easily processed through cutting, bending, welding, and other methods.

Surface Treatment of Galvanized Coils
Passivation
The galvanized layer undergoes passivation to reduce corrosion (white rust) during storage and transportation under humid conditions. However, the anti-corrosion performance of this chemical treatment is limited, and it also interferes with the adhesion of most paints. This treatment is generally not used for zinc-iron alloy coatings. For other types of zinc coatings, passivation treatment is typically applied, except for smooth-surfaced coatings.
Oiling
Oiling helps reduce corrosion of steel plates during wet storage and transportation. Re-oiling the steel plates and strips after passivation further minimizes corrosion under humid conditions. The oil layer should be removable with a degreasing agent that does not damage the zinc coating.
Paint Sealing
A thin film of transparent organic coating can provide additional corrosion protection, especially with anti-fingerprint properties. This treatment also improves lubricity during forming and serves as an adhesion primer for subsequent coatings.
Phosphating
Phosphating treatment allows galvanized steel sheets of various coating types to be used without additional treatment, except for normal cleaning. This treatment enhances the adhesion and anti-corrosion properties of the coating and reduces the risk of corrosion during storage and transportation. After phosphating, a suitable lubricant can be applied to improve forming performance.
No Treatment
Steel plates and strips supplied according to this standard may not undergo passivation, oiling, painting, or phosphating unless specifically requested by the buyer. In such cases, the buyer is responsible for any treatment requirements.
