Cold rolled steel Coil
DC01 steel is a cold-rolled, low-carbon steel defined according to European standard EN 10130. It belongs to the DC (cold-drawn) steel family, where "DC" denotes suitability for cold forming, and "01" designates the basic quality grade. DC01 is an unalloyed steel whose clean surface and uniform microstructure make it particularly suitable for secondary processes such as coating, painting, electroplating, and welding. However, DC01 lacks inherent corrosion resistance.
Features
1. Technical delivery conditions
DIN EN 10130 specifies the technical delivery conditions for cold-rolled flat steel. These include the chemical composition, mechanical properties and surface quality. The standard ensures that the products supplied meet the required standards in order to guarantee workability and final quality.
2. Chemical composition
The chemical composition of the steel is decisive for its properties and is described in detail in DIN EN 10130. For DC01, the maximum carbon content is 0.12%, while the manganese and phosphorus content is also subject to specific limits. This composition ensures good cold formability and a high surface quality.
3. Mechanical properties
DC01 in accordance with DIN EN 10130 has specific mechanical properties that make it ideal for cold forming. These include a minimum tensile strength of 270-410 MPa and a minimum elongation of 28%. These properties allow the steel to be processed into complex shapes without cracking or breaking.
4. Surface quality
The surface quality is another aspect of DIN EN 10130. DC01 can be supplied in different surface finishes, such as smooth or matt. These variations allow adaptation to specific requirements of the end application, be it for decorative purposes or further coating processes.

SPCC vs DC01 Cold Rolled Steel
SPCC is defined under the Japanese JIS G3141 standard for commercial cold rolled steel. Its carbon content is slightly higher compared to DC01, resulting in a marginally higher hardness. DC01 falls under the European EN 10130 standard and is engineered for excellent ductility and formability, with lower carbon content, making it ideal for deep drawing operations.

FAQ
Q1: What is DC01 cold rolled steel?
A: DC01 is a low-carbon cold rolled steel grade specified in EN 10130. It features excellent surface quality, dimensional accuracy, and good formability, making it suitable for stamping, bending, welding, and general fabrication.
Q2: What are the typical applications of DC01 cold rolled steel?
A: DC01 is widely used for automotive parts, electrical cabinets, office furniture, shelving, home appliances, steel profiles, lighting fixtures, and various precision metal components.
Q3: What is the difference between DC01 and hot rolled steel?
A: DC01 is processed by cold rolling after hot rolling, resulting in a smoother surface, tighter thickness tolerance, and higher dimensional accuracy. Hot rolled steel is generally preferred for structural applications where surface finish is less important.
Q4: Can DC01 cold rolled steel be galvanized or coated?
A: Yes. DC01 is commonly used as a substrate for electro-galvanizing, hot-dip galvanizing, painting, powder coating, and other surface treatments to improve corrosion resistance and appearance.
Q5: Is DC01 steel suitable for welding and bending?
A: Yes. DC01 offers excellent weldability and cold-forming performance. It can be easily cut, bent, stamped, and welded using standard fabrication processes.
