Electro galvanized steel is a plating process where the steel is placed in an electrically charged solution of zinc and saline. This causes the zinc to chemically bond to the conductive steel. Electro-plating is frequently used for coiled sheets steel, which is later formed into shapes such as c-purloins, and corrugated sheets or can be formed and welded into pipes and tubes. Often a UV-resistant polymer is applied after electro-plating to further protect the steel and provide a paintable surface that does not need to be primed.
SECD electrogalvanized plates and strips are featured with good erosion-resistant, high surface quality(O5 plates surface are available) and excellent processing and coating performances. They can be used to manufacture inside an outside automotive plates , structural parts and reinforcements.

Corrosion Resistance
The zinc is solidfied to produce the outer layer of the pure zinc coating, a thin film is formed on the surface to prevent it from being corroded during exposure to acid and alkaline environments, which protected the steel body for a long time.
Paintability
Electro-galvanized steel has various colors be coated after the chemical process, which can be customized to customer requirements. Electro-galvanized steel is beautiful and decorative. Its flat and uniform surface provides good conditions for painting and improves its paint adhesion and anticorrosion properties after painting.
Weldability
Electro-galvanized steels has good ductility and surface not is not easily fall off during various processing, bending and handling.
Formability
Compared with hot-dip galvanized steel sheet, electro-galvanized sheets has less galvanized surface. And in the process of processing, it is not affected by heat treatment, so is has the same material and processing performance as the original plates (cold plates).
Conductivity
Anti-fingerprint resin treatment (without phosphate surface treatment,insulator) ensure the excellent electric conductivity, which has low resistance of below 0.1ms.

FAQ about electro galvanized steel
Q: Will electro zinc coated steel rust?
A: Yes, it will rust over time. As we know, the corrosion resistance of galvanized steel sheets largely depends on the thickness of the protective zinc coating. Electro-galvanized steels usually has a thin zinc layer. Therefore, it does not live as long as hot dipped galvanized steels. Under normal conditions, it only has a few years of life.
Q: Is electro galvanized steel magnetic?
A: Yes, EG steels is magnetic. EG steels is a ferrous metal, which contains iron. Iron and steels are both magnetic materials, which means that electro galvanized steel will also be magnetic. The electroplating process applying the zinc coating to the steel does not affect the magnetic properties of the underlying steel.
Q: Can you paint electro galvanized steel?
A: Yes. EGI steels and HDG steels can be painted. But it requires proper preparation and uses suitable paints properly.
To ensure good adhesion of the paint to the electro galvanized surface, it is important to first clean the surface by removing any oils, greases, or other contaminants.
