SECC Electro-Galvanized Steel Sheet JIS G 3313

SECC Electro galvanized steel is a type of steel that has been coated with a thin layer of zinc to enhance its resistance to rust and corrosion. The electro-galvanizing process involves the application of zinc to the steel surface through an electroplating procedure, resulting in a smooth, uniform coating.

What Is SECC Steel?

SECC is electro-galvanized steel sheet. Written in English as Steel Electrolytic Cold Commercial. The CC at the end of SECC is the same as the base material of SECC before electroplating, which is SPCC (cold-rolled steel plate), and both indicate that it is a cold-rolled general-purpose material.Primarily used in the IT, home appliance, and precision engineering sectors, our SECC sheets provide the perfect balance between corrosion resistance and workability.

The base material is SECC, so it has the same characteristics as SECC and excellent processability. And because it is electroplated, it has a beautiful and shiny appearance, but it has good paintability and can be painted in various colors.
It is the steel plate with the largest circulation among the treated steel plates.

GNEE STEEL SECC (Electro-Galvanized Steel) is manufactured using the cold-rolled base metal subjected to a sophisticated electro-deposition process. This results in a highly uniform zinc layer that offers exceptional surface smoothness and dimensional stability.

Key Advantages

1.Exceptional Paintability:

Unlike hot-dip galvanized steel (SGCC), SECC has a matte, uniform surface. It requires minimal pre-treatment for powder coating, ensuring a flawless aesthetic finish.

2.Precision Manufacturing:

Our sheets maintain tight thickness tolerances, making them ideal for high-speed CNC punching and precision stamping.

3.Superior Formability:

Even after the electro-galvanizing process, the steel retains the excellent ductility of the base cold-rolled metal.

4.Anti-Fingerprint (AFP) Coating:

Available upon request, our AFP treatment prevents smudging during assembly and enhances secondary corrosion resistance.

Primary Applications

1.Electronics & IT: Computer chassis, server racks, telecommunication enclosures, and power supply units.

2.Home Appliances: Refrigerator side panels, microwave oven interiors, and air conditioner housings.

3.Automotive: Internal brackets, seat frames, and small precision-stamped components.

4.Office Equipment: Photocopier frames, metal furniture, and filing cabinet components.

FAQ

1. What is SECC steel?

Answer:SECC steel is cold rolled steel coated with zinc through an electro-galvanizing process. It provides good corrosion resistance, excellent surface finish, and high formability, making it widely used in electrical enclosures, computer cases, and automotive components.

2. What does SECC stand for?

Answer:SECC stands for Steel Electrolytic Cold Commercial. It refers to cold rolled steel sheet that has been electro-galvanized with a thin zinc coating to improve corrosion resistance while maintaining a smooth surface.

3. What is the difference between SECC and SGCC steel?

Answer:SECC is electro-galvanized steel with a smooth and uniform surface, while SGCC is hot-dip galvanized steel with a thicker zinc coating. SECC is preferred for precision parts and painting, whereas SGCC offers stronger corrosion protection for outdoor applications.

4. Is SECC steel suitable for welding?

Answer:Yes. SECC steel can be welded using common methods such as spot welding and resistance welding. Proper ventilation is recommended because zinc coatings may produce fumes during welding.

5. Can SECC steel be painted?

Answer:Yes. SECC steel has a smooth surface that provides excellent paint adhesion after proper cleaning and pretreatment. It is commonly used for powder coating and industrial painting applications.

6. What industries commonly use SECC steel?

Answer:SECC steel is widely used in electronics, telecommunications equipment, office furniture, electrical cabinets, automotive components, and household appliances due to its corrosion resistance and good appearance.

7. Does SECC steel rust?

Answer:SECC steel has good corrosion resistance because of its zinc coating, but it can rust if the coating is damaged or exposed to harsh environments for extended periods. Indoor applications typically provide a long service life.

8. What are the advantages of SECC steel?

Answer:The main advantages of SECC steel include excellent surface quality, good corrosion resistance, easy forming, strong paintability, and suitability for precision manufacturing processes.

9. What thickness is available for SECC steel sheets?

Answer:SECC steel sheets are commonly available in thicknesses from 0.3 mm to 3.0 mm, although the exact range depends on the manufacturer and application requirements.

10. Is SECC steel suitable for deep drawing?

Answer:Yes. SECC steel can be supplied in drawing-quality grades that offer good ductility and formability, making it suitable for stamping, bending, and moderate deep-drawing applications.
