Can color-coated steel rolls be used as anti-slip coatings for shelf panels?

1.What are the advantages of using embossed colored coated coils as heavy-duty warehouse racks?

Process: While the coating on the color-coated coil (usually a thicker PVC plastisol coating) is not fully cured, a patterned steel roller is used to imprint the pattern.

Effect: Creates a textured, three-dimensional pattern on the surface (common patterns include diamonds, dots, and stripes). This significantly increases the surface friction coefficient, effectively preventing goods from slipping.

Advantages:

Physical anti-slip, permanent effect: The anti-slip pattern is part of the coating and will not disappear due to wear or cleaning; its lifespan is consistent with the coating itself.

High strength and corrosion resistance: The substrate is typically made of high-strength steel, combined with a thick coating, making it highly resistant to scratches, impacts, and corrosion.

Aesthetically pleasing and neat: Available in a variety of colors, keeping the warehouse clean and attractive.

2.What are the advantages of anti-slip granular color-coated coils?

Process: Before the coating (such as epoxy resin or polyester) is baked and cured, wear-resistant particles such as quartz sand and silicon carbide are evenly sprinkled onto the surface using a special process, and then cured together.

Result: A uniform, fine, granular texture is formed on the surface, providing excellent anti-slip properties.

Advantages:

Very high anti-slip coefficient: Especially suitable for environments with oil stains or moisture (such as cold storage and food processing plants).

Excellent wear resistance.

Note: Surface cleaning is slightly more difficult than with embossed boards, and particles may detach (the detachment rate is extremely low for high-quality products).

3.What are the advantages of high-friction specialty coatings on color-coated coils?

Process: Roller coating using a paint formulation with added anti-slip agents (such as polymer resin microspheres or soft granules). After curing, the coating itself has high frictional resistance.

Result: The surface appears relatively smooth, but has a noticeably rough feel to the touch.

Advantages:

Smooth surface, easy to clean.

Generally lower cost than embossed and granular coatings.

Suitable for light-duty shelves or work surfaces with moderate anti-slip requirements and easy cleaning.

4.How effective is the post-processing with the added anti-slip layer?

Applying anti-slip mats/strips: Attaching these to specific locations on the shelf is low-cost, but offers slightly less durability and overall integrity.

Spraying anti-slip coating: After leveling and shearing, spray a layer of liquid anti-slip coating (such as polyurethane anti-slip paint). Offers high flexibility, but increases processing steps and costs.

5.How to choose a substrate and coating?

Substrate: Typically, DX51D+Z, DX52D+Z, or high-strength steel such as S350GD+Z are used. The thickness is selected based on the load-bearing design.

Coating: Anti-slip color-coated coils often use PVC plastisol because it is relatively soft and thick, making it ideal for embossing and offering good flexibility.

Coating Thickness: It is recommended that the front coating thickness be ≥25μm, and the back also requires a protective coating (usually 12-15μm).
