Production process for steel galvanized

Substrate preparation: Hot or cold rolled steel strip is used as the substrate.

Galvanising treatment: The substrate is immersed in a molten zinc bath, which causes a layer of zinc to adhere to its surface.

Alloying treatment (optional): After leaving the tank, it is heated to approx. 500°C to form an alloy film of zinc and iron, which enhances the adhesion and weldability of the coating.

Surface Characteristics

Spangle: The surface of traditional hot-dip galvanized coils typically features visible zinc crystal patterns (spangle), formed by the solidification and crystallization of the molten zinc, which provides a decorative effect. However, modern processes have also developed finishes with minimal spangle and no spangle (smoothing) to meet various requirements (e.g., requiring a smooth surface for subsequent painting).

Surface Treatment: Post-galvanizing treatments such as passivation, oiling, and phosphating can further enhance corrosion resistance, improve paintability, or provide short-term rust protection.
