1.How to select and maintain lifting gear?
Use specialized lifting equipment: C-hooks with corner protectors or specialized coil clamps must be used. It is strictly forbidden to use unprotected wire ropes or chains to directly contact the inner bore or outer ring of the steel coil.
Check the integrity of the sheath: The load-bearing surface of the C-hook (the part in contact with the inner wall of the steel coil) must be fitted with an intact nylon sheath or copper plate. If the sheath is severely worn or even detached, direct metal-to-metal contact will inevitably cause damage or dents to the edge of the inner bore.
Raise and lower slowly: When operating the overhead crane or hoist, the speed must be slowed down the instant the steel coil leaves the ground or is about to land to avoid the coil colliding with the boom or adjacent objects due to sudden swaying.

2.How to package and protect it?
Inner and Outer Corner Protectors: Ensure that both the inner and outer edges of the steel coil are fitted with plastic or paper corner protectors. The inner edge is particularly important; without corner protectors, the side can easily be scratched or the inner edge can collapse when the lifting equipment is inserted.
Circumferential Strapping: Check that the packing straps are secure. If the straps are loose, the steel coil will shift between layers during transport (lacking), causing dents on the sides.
End Protection: For wide cold-rolled coils, the sides (shoulders) are very vulnerable. It is recommended to use high-strength, circular end guards to prevent upper coils from crushing the ends of lower coils during stacking.

3.How to standardize stacking?
Limit Stacking Height: While cold-rolled coils have high hardness, their pressure-bearing capacity is limited. Generally, it is not recommended to stack more than 3 layers in indoor warehouses (except for small diameter coils). The bottom layer of coils bears enormous pressure; if the upper layers are slightly misaligned, the contact points will experience tremendous pressure, causing dents.
Aligned Stacking: When stacking, ensure that the eyelets of the coils in the upper and lower layers are aligned and that the end faces are strictly aligned. Misalignment reduces the contact area, drastically increasing pressure and inevitably causing permanent dents at the contact points.
Wooden/Rubber Pads: If possible, place dedicated non-slip wooden pads or high-density rubber pads between layers of coils to distribute pressure and prevent hard contact.
Prioritize Shelving: If heavy-duty steel coil shelving (A-frame or cantilever racks) is available, it should be used preferentially. Shelving completely prevents stacking compression, facilitates access, and reduces the risk of collisions.

4.How to transport and fix it?
V-shaped saddle: Transport vehicles must be equipped with V-shaped saddles covered with rubber or nylon sheets. The steel coils are placed within the V-grooves, increasing the contact area and preventing rolling, while the soft material cushions bumps.
Preventing swaying: The steel coils are securely fixed to the truck bed using high-strength steel wire or chains and rope tensioners. Emphasis is placed on front, rear, left, and right limits to prevent the coils from rolling forward and hitting the cab (a serious safety accident) or colliding with each other during sudden braking.
Tarpeg cover: While primarily for rain protection, the tarp also prevents flying sand and gravel from impacting the surface of the steel coils at high speeds, causing minor dents.
5.What are the requirements for the ground and environment?
Level the ground: The ground where steel coils are stored must be level and firm. If the ground is subsided or uneven, the steel coils will tilt, causing uneven stress on the bottom contact points, and long-term static pressure may also cause deformation.
Clean up debris: Screws, small iron pieces, and hard particles on the ground, if placed under the steel coils, will be pressed into the surface of the coils by their immense weight, forming pits.
