Are pre-coated steel rolls used for car wash equipment housings?

1.What are the advantages of using pre-coated steel rolls for the outer shell of car wash equipment?

Superior corrosion resistance: This is the most critical advantage. Car wash environments are constantly exposed to high humidity, water splashes, cleaning agents, and chemicals (such as car wash liquid, wax, and salt). The coating on the surface of the color-coated steel coil (especially high-quality PVDF fluorocarbon coating or HDP high-weather-resistant polyester coating) forms a robust protective layer, effectively preventing the substrate from rusting and extending its lifespan far beyond that of ordinary painted steel sheets.

Excellent decorative and aesthetic appeal:

Rich colors, long-lasting new look: Available in a variety of colors (white, blue, red, gray, etc.) and surface textures (matte, high-gloss, orange peel, wood grain, etc.) to meet brand image and aesthetic needs. The high-quality coating offers strong UV resistance and resists fading over long-term use.

Smooth appearance, superior texture: The pre-coating process results in a uniform and smooth paint surface, giving it a high-end feel.

Excellent processability and formability: The color-coated coils are pre-coated at the factory and can be directly processed by cutting, bending, stamping, roll forming and other processes to make panels, frames and structural parts of various shapes, which is very suitable for industrial mass production of car wash enclosures.

2.What are the economic benefits of using pre-coated steel rolls for car wash equipment housings?

High production efficiency: Eliminates the need for painting and drying after sheet metal fabrication, shortening the production cycle.

Low overall cost: Although the unit price of the material is higher than that of ordinary steel plates, it saves on subsequent painting costs and space, resulting in a more cost-effective overall cost.

Easy to clean and maintain: The smooth surface makes it easy to wash off stains; daily cleaning requires only simple wiping.

3.How to choose a coating?

PVDF (fluorocarbon) coating is the preferred choice: It offers excellent chemical resistance, weather resistance, and UV resistance, with the longest lifespan (typically 15-20 years or more warranty), making it the best but most expensive option.

HDP (high weather-resistant polyester) or SMP (silicone-modified polyester) coatings are the next best options: They offer good cost-effectiveness, good weather and corrosion resistance, and meet the requirements of most car wash equipment, making them a commonly used choice.

Avoid using ordinary PE (polyester) coatings: Their weather and chemical resistance are relatively poor, and they may age prematurely under long-term harsh environments.

4.How to choose a substrate?

Aluminized zinc plated substrate (AZ150/AZ180): Its corrosion resistance (especially for edge protection) is superior to galvanized sheet, making it the more recommended choice.

Hot-dip galvanized substrate (Z120/Z180): Reliable performance and widely used.

Back coating: Given the humid environment inside car washes, it is recommended to choose double-sided coated coils (thick coating on the front, thin coating on the back) for comprehensive protection.

5.What precautions should be taken during processing and installation?

Avoid severely scratching the coating during processing.

For all exposed edges after cutting and drilling, it is recommended to seal them with a special weather-resistant sealant or anti-corrosion paint to prevent moisture from seeping in and causing rust.

During installation, ensure that connectors (screws, rivets) are also made of stainless steel or coated materials, and use waterproof gaskets.
