What is the material grade of SGCD2 galvanized steel?
SGCC2 galvanized steel coil is a hot-dip pure zinc-coated steel sheet that complies with JIS G 3302 standard. It is made of cold-rolled low-carbon steel (SPCC) as the substrate and processed by hot-dip galvanizing process. It belongs to the medium-deep drawing grade for stamping in the commercial grade, between the ordinary commercial grade (SGCC) and the ultra-deep drawing grade (SGCD3).
Similar to the performance level of European standard DC04+Z (EN 10130) or national standard DX53D+Z (GB/T 2518)
SGC: Hot-dip galvanized steel (Steel, Galvanized, Commercial)
D2: Stamping grade code (similar to German standard DC04, medium and deep drawing performance)
Galvanized mark: "+Z" is usually omitted, hot-dip galvanized by default

SGCD2 galvanized steel coil is used for?
Home appliance manufacturing:
Refrigerator/air conditioner housing, washing machine panel (subsequent spraying is required).
Building decoration:
Light roof panels, indoor partitions, ceilings (non-load-bearing structures).
Hardware products:
Lamps, filing cabinets, small metal containers.
General industrial parts:
Simple shelves, distribution box housing (low-load scenarios)
SGCC2 is preferred: light industry, household appliances and other low-load and economical scenarios.

What is the difference between SGCC2 steel and SGCC1 and SGCC3?
SGCC1: Thinner coating (40-60g/m²), lower cost, suitable for low-corrosion environments.
SGCC2: Standard coating (60-80g/m²), balanced corrosion resistance and economy.
SGCC3: Thicker coating (80-110g/m²), stronger corrosion resistance, suitable for outdoor use.

Will SGCD2 hot dip galvanized steel coil rust?
SGCC2 galvanized steel coils are not easy to rust indoors or in normal environments, but they may still rust if exposed to harsh environments for a long time.
Factors that affect rust
|
Factors |
Impact Statement |
|
Coating weight |
SGCC2 standard coating (60-80g/m²) can provide 3-10 years of rust protection (depending on the environment). The thicker the coating, the stronger the corrosion resistance. |
|
Usage environment |
- In dry rooms: almost no rust. - In humid/coastal/industrial areas: white rust or red rust may appear within 5 years. |
|
Surface treatment |
Chromate passivation or oiling can extend the rust protection time, and the bare zinc layer (untreated) is more susceptible to oxidation. |
|
Mechanical damage |
If the coating is severely scratched or worn away, the steel substrate will be exposed and will rust. |
