SPCC Processing and Usage Precautions
Surface Treatment Compatibility: SPCC does not have any special coatings on its surface. For rust prevention or appearance enhancement, subsequent treatment with spraying, electroplating, or phosphating is required (rust is likely to occur when directly exposed to moisture).
Processing Limitations: Avoid deep drawing (e.g., drawing depths exceeding three times the sheet thickness), as this can lead to cracking due to insufficient plasticity.
Dimensional Accuracy: SPCC typically has a thickness tolerance of ±0.05mm (common thicknesses are 0.3-3.0mm). For higher accuracy (e.g., ±0.02mm), choose "high-precision cold-rolled steel" (with the accuracy grade additionally indicated).
Core Applications of SPCC (Why is it the "General Grade" of Choice?)
SPCC is one of the most widely used grades of cold-rolled steel due to its low cost, easy processing requirements, and performance suitability for most simple applications. It serves as a foundational component for a wide range of industries:
1. Hardware and General Structural Parts
Typical Products: Side panels, back panels, and brackets for filing cabinets/lockers; accessories for clothes drying racks; chassis and housings for instruments and equipment (without complex shapes);
Suitability: Requiring only simple cutting and bending, SPCC fully meets its strength and ductility requirements, while also being less expensive than high-formability cold-rolled steels (such as SPCE).
2. Home Appliance Industry (Non-Core Exterior Parts)
Typical Products: Internal brackets for washing machines, chassis for air conditioner outdoor units, refrigerator compressor housings, and internal partitions for microwave ovens;
Suitability: These parts do not require complex deep drawing, and subsequent spraying and phosphating processes conceal minor surface imperfections in SPCC, while offering significant cost advantages. 3. Automotive Industry (Low-Stress Structural Parts)
Typical Products: Chassis Brackets, Seat Rail Accessories, and Trunk Interior Supports
Suitability: These parts are subject to low stress and do not require high yield strength or complex forming. SPCC can meet basic structural requirements while reducing vehicle manufacturing costs.
