What is Cold Rolled Steel Electrolytic Tinplate?

Cold Rolled Steel Electrolytic Tinplate is a metal material that uses high-quality low-carbon cold-rolled steel as the base material and is evenly tinned on the surface through an electrolytic process. It combines the high formability of cold-rolled steel and the corrosion resistance of the tin layer, making it an ideal choice for food packaging and electronic components.

Cold Rolled Steel Electrolytic Tinplate Process

Substrate preparation: cold-rolled low-carbon steel coil (hardness: HRB 45-75)
Electrolytic cleaning: remove surface impurities (residual oil ≤ 20mg/m²)
Electrolytic tin plating: current density 10-50A/dm²; plating temperature 30-50℃
Soft melting treatment: 230-260℃ to make the tin layer crystallized and densified
Passivation treatment: chromate coating (30-50mg/m² Cr)
Oil coating: DOS oil or palm oil (2-5mg/m²)

Cold Rolled Steel Electrolytic Tinplate is used for?

Food packaging field:
Beverage cans: recommended 0.15mm DR8 material + 2.5/2.5g/m² tin plating
Fish cans: recommended 5.6/5.6g/m² high tin layer + L steel substrate

Electronic and electrical applications:
Battery casing: 0.20mm + 3.0/3.0g/m² tin plating
Electromagnetic shielding: 0.15mm high hardness type

How to Choose Cold Rolled Steel Electrolytic Tinplate?

Select by content:
Acidic food (pH < 4.5): 5.6g/m² or more tin layer is recommended
Dry food: 1.1-2.8g/m² low tin layer can be selected

Select by processing method:
Deep drawing: MR steel + annealing treatment
High-speed canning: DR material (double cold-rolled high strength)

Environmental requirements:
EU market: choose chromium-free passivation (Cr6+ < 0.1μg/cm²)
General use: Chromate passivation is more economical
