Welded steel bar grating is a load-bearing grid produced by resistance-welding bearing bars to perpendicular cross bars, then
hot-dip galvanizing the whole assembly for long-term corrosion resistance. GNEE STEEL supplies it in carbon steel, stainless
steel, and aluminum, with plain, serrated, and I-bar profiles, for platforms, walkways, stair treads, drainage covers, and
industrial flooring.
Steel grating
Steel bar grating is one of the most efficient structural solutions for industrial flooring, catwalks, and drainage because it
combines high strength with open area that lets light, air, and water pass through. The bearing bars carry the load; the cross
bars hold the grid rigid. After fabrication the grating is submerged in molten zinc, producing a metallurgical bond that
protects both the bars and the welds. This makes hot-dip galvanized grating suitable for outdoor and corrosive environments
where painted steel would fail quickly.

Materials and Surface Treatment
GNEE STEEL offers gratings in carbon steel (the most common and cost-effective), stainless steel (for hygiene and chemical
resistance), and aluminum (for lightweight, non-sparking applications). Surface options include hot-dip galvanizing, spray
painting, polishing, and powder coating. For most outdoor and industrial uses, hot-dip galvanizing is the default because it
covers edges and welds that other coatings miss.
Bearing Bar Types
- Plain (flat) bar: smooth surface, easiest to walk on, good for general flooring.
- Serrated bar: raised teeth improve slip resistance on ramps and oily floors.
- I-bar: lighter than flat bar at equal height, reducing weight and cost.

Products Description

Welded bar grating
Welded bar grating is also called metal open bargrating. Welded bar grating, also known as metalopen bar grating, comes in two types: smoothand serrated. Smooth, or plain steel bar grating, ismore popular, but serrated grating offers betterskid resistance.

Press Lock Grating
Made from low carbon steel, stainless steel, oraluminum, is created by bonding slotted barsunder hydraulic pressure. It's strong, durable, andwidely used in industrial and commercialapplications like stair treads, platforms, walkways, and covers. Serrated surfacesenhance anti-slip properties.

Swage Locked Grating
Swage locked grating, mainly made of aluminumor stainless steel bars, is formed by insertingcross bars into pre-punched bearing bars andlocking them under hydraulic pressure. It comesin three bearing bar types: rectangular, T, and Ibars, with I bars being lighter and moreaffordable.
Surface treatment
1.Pickling
High-grade steel grating is typically pickled afterproduction to remove scale and discoloration caused bywelding, which can lead to corrosion. During the picklingprocess, the grating is submerged in a bath that cleansesthe surface, leaving it metallically pure and corrosion-resistant.
2.Hot dip galvanizing
Hot-dipped galvanized steel grating involves submergingthe steel grating in molten zinc, a process calledgalvanization. This forms a strong metallurgical bondbetween the zinc and the steel, resulting in a durable,corrosion-resistant protective layer.
3.Powder coating
Powder coating is a cost-effective, durable way to colorgrating. The process includes degreasing, pickling, zinc-phosphating, and electrostatic powder application, thenbaking at 180°C. For enhanced corrosion protection, thiscoating combines hot-dip galvanizing with powder coating.Available in all RAL colors, with different gloss levels andtextures.
