1050A (EN AW-1050A) is 99.5% pure aluminium plate/sheet from GNEE STEEL, ideal for forming, welding and anodizing where strength is secondary. It is supplied in tempers such as O (soft) and H14 (half-hard). Chemistry: Si ≤0.25%, Fe ≤0.40%, Al ≥99.5%. Mechanical values vary by temper and thickness - confirm exact tensile/yield and certification with GNEE STEEL and request the mill test certificate.

1050A Aluminium Plates

1050A is a commercially pure aluminium grade with a minimum aluminium content of 99.5%, supplied internationally as EN AW-1050A. In the older British system it was known as S1B, and in the half-hard temper as S1B H4. Because it is nearly pure aluminium, 1050A is very ductile, highly formable, and excellent for welding, anodizing and general fabrication where high strength is not the deciding factor. GNEE STEEL offers 1050A aluminium plate and sheet in several tempers - typically annealed (O) for maximum formability or strain-hardened (H14, half-hard) for a bit more stiffness - so buyers can match the temper to the job rather than over-specifying a costlier alloy.

Applications

Because 1050A is soft, corrosion-resistant and easy to work, it appears wherever formability and surface finish matter more than load-bearing strength. Typical uses are general sheet-metal work, packaging and foil-related components, boiler and heat-transfer equipment, kitchenware, chemical and pharmaceutical plant panels, automotive trim, architectural panelling, cabinets, appliances, and various vessels and enclosures. Its high thermal and electrical conductivity also makes it useful for heat sinks and busbar cladding where pure aluminium is preferred. The half-hard (H14) temper is chosen when the part must hold a shape or resist minor denting, while the annealed (O) temper is used for deep drawing and spinning. Buyers should note that 1050A is not a structural alloy - for stressed parts, a 3000-, 5000- or 6000-series grade is usually specified instead.

Procurement & Ordering

When requesting a quote, state the required temper (O, H14, H24 or other), thickness, width and length, and whether you need cut-to-size processing. GNEE STEEL can supply 1050A in sheet and provide in-house cutting to your dimensions; confirm the exact service scope and tolerances for your order. For projects needing documented chemistry and properties, ask for the mill test certificate and the applicable standard (ASTM B209 or EN 485). Because pure aluminium work-hardens during machining, specify the cutting speeds and tooling notes if you need machined parts, or let GNEE STEEL advise on the right temper for your fabrication. FAQ

Q: What is 1050A aluminium used for?
A: It is a 99.5% pure aluminium used for forming, welding, anodizing, heat-transfer and decorative work where high strength is not required - panels, kitchenware, chemical plant cladding, signage and similar parts.

Q: O or H14 - which temper?
A: Choose O (annealed) for deep drawing and maximum formability; choose H14 (half-hard) when the part must keep its shape and resist light denting.

Q: Is a test certificate provided?
A: Yes, an MTC can be supplied. Request it with the order and confirm the governing standard.

Q: Can you cut it to size?
A: Cut-to-size service is offered; confirm thickness, dimensions and tolerances with GNEE STEEL.

Q: Is 1050A a structural grade?
A: No. It is a non-heat-treatable pure aluminium. For load-bearing parts, consider a 5000- or 6000-series alloy and discuss with GNEE STEEL.
