  • SPCC (Cold-Rolled Steel Sheet)

Cold-rolled steel sheet, short for ordinary carbon structural steel cold-rolled sheet, is also known as cold plate. It is made from hot-rolled ordinary carbon structural steel strip, further cold-rolled, and has a thickness of less than 4mm. While SPCC offers excellent mechanical properties, it should be noted that, due to its lack of surface treatment, its corrosion resistance is relatively poor. It oxidizes easily when exposed to air, especially in humid environments, resulting in dark red rust. Therefore, after stamping, SPCC often requires surface treatments such as electroplating and painting to enhance its corrosion resistance and appearance.

Cold-rolled steel can also be further categorized based on its ductility, including SPCC, SPCD, and SPCE. SECC (electrolytically galvanized steel sheet) is also noteworthy. Its substrate is cold-rolled steel coil, which undergoes a continuous electroplating process involving degreasing, pickling, electroplating, and various post-treatment steps, resulting in a continuous zinc coating on the steel strip. SECC combines the mechanical properties and workability of SPCC with excellent corrosion resistance and decorative properties, making it widely used in the electronics and home appliance industries.

It is worth noting that electrolytically zinc-coated sheet can also be categorized based on its deep-drawability properties, including SECC, SECD, and SECE. Furthermore, different sheet types and thicknesses each have their own unique applications. For example, commonly used SPCC sheet thicknesses are 1.6/2.0/2.5/3.0mm, while SECC sheet thicknesses are typically 0.6/0.8/1.0/1.2/1.6/2.0mm. This knowledge is crucial for understanding and applying sheet metal materials.

  • SGCC (Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Sheet)

Continuously hot-dip galvanized thin steel sheets and strips are processed through a cold rolling process. During production, the strip first passes through a flame-heated preheating furnace to remove residual oil from the surface and form an iron oxide film. Subsequently, the strip enters a reduction annealing furnace containing a mixture of H₂ and N₂, heated to 710-920°C, reducing the iron oxide film to sponge iron, thereby activating and purifying the strip surface. After the strip cools to a temperature slightly above the molten zinc, it enters a zinc bath at 450-460°C, where the zinc layer thickness is controlled by an air knife. Finally, it undergoes a passivation treatment with a chromate solution to enhance white rust resistance.

Hot-dip galvanized steel sheet has an aesthetically pleasing surface, exhibiting a blocky or leaf-like pattern of crystalline plating. The coating is durable and offers excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance. It also exhibits excellent weldability and cold forming properties. However, due to the rapid heating and cooling times of the hot-dip galvanizing line, its stamping performance is slightly inferior to that of cold-rolled raw sheet. Furthermore, the iron-zinc alloy in the zinc coating slightly reduces tensile strength, making hot-dip galvanized sheet a poor choice for workpieces requiring deep drawing.

Based on its deep-drawing properties, hot-dip galvanized sheet can be categorized as SGCC, SGCD1, SGCD2, and SGCD3. Common SGCC sheet thickness specifications are T = 0.6/0.8/1.0/1.2/1.6/2.0 mm.
