Safety Grating:
Steel sheets are punched with holes for making slip resistance and give high safety performance at stairs, wet floors and in oily areas.
Method for Calculating the Weight of Steel Gratings
The weight of steel grating is calculated by adding the weight of bearing flat bars and cross bars together. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Calculate the Weight of Bearing Flat Bars
Formula:Flat bar weight (kg) = Number of flat bars × Length of single flat bar (m) × Flat bar width (mm) × Flat bar thickness (mm) × Steel density (0.00785)
Number of flat bars: 1000 ÷ Flat bar pitch (mm), rounded up (e.g., 34 bars for a pitch of 30mm).
Example:Model 32/30/100 (flat bar width 31mm, thickness 4.75mm, pitch 30mm). There are 34 bars per square meter.Weight = 34 × 1 × 31 × 4.75 × 0.00785 ≈ 41.61kg

2. Calculate the Weight of Cross Bars
Formula:Cross bar weight (kg) = Number of cross bars × Length of single cross bar (m) × Theoretical weight of cross bar (kg/m)
Number of cross bars: 1000 ÷ Cross bar pitch (mm), rounded up (e.g., 10 bars for a pitch of 100mm).
Example:5.5×5.5mm twisted square steel cross bar (theoretical weight 0.186kg/m). There are 10 bars per square meter.Weight = 10 × 1 × 0.186 ≈ 1.86kg
3. Total Weight
Formula:Total weight (kg) = Flat bar weight + Cross bar weight
Example:Adding the above flat bar and cross bar weights, the total weight per square meter ≈ 41.61 + 1.86 = 43.47kg
Notes
Surface treatment (such as hot-dip galvanizing) will increase the weight by approximately 3-5%.
The weight of edging flat bars needs to be calculated separately.
There may be dimensional deviations in actual production (e.g., the actual width of a 32mm flat bar is 31mm). It is recommended to refer to the manufacturer's drawings for accuracy.
