Hot dip galvanized steel coil
Hot dip galvanized steel coil is a steel sheet product in which a layer of zinc is coated on the surface of a ferrous substrate to improve its corrosion resistance and extend its service life.

From the point of view of the process characteristics of hot dip galvanizing, its own corrosion resistance is superior. Compared with other processes, the zinc-iron alloy layer formed by this process is more compact, more detailed, can effectively block the air and water, reducing the possibility of oxidation occurs, for steel and other protective effect is more obvious, effectively extend the service life.
Sacrificial Anodic Protection: Zinc is chemically more reactive than iron. When the coating is damaged or exposed to a corrosive environment, the zinc corrodes before the iron (sacrificing itself), thereby protecting the underlying steel substrate from rust.
Physical Barrier Protection: A complete zinc layer effectively isolates the steel substrate from oxygen, moisture, and other corrosive media in the air.
Dual Protection: The combination of sacrificial anodic protection and physical barrier protection provides extremely long-lasting corrosion protection, with a service life several or even dozens of times longer than ungalvanized steel.
Surface Characteristics
Spangle: The surface of traditional hot-dip galvanized coils typically features visible zinc crystal patterns (spangle), formed by the solidification and crystallization of the molten zinc, which provides a decorative effect. However, modern processes have also developed finishes with minimal spangle and no spangle (smoothing) to meet various requirements (e.g., requiring a smooth surface for subsequent painting).
Surface Treatment: Post-galvanizing treatments such as passivation, oiling, and phosphating can further enhance corrosion resistance, improve paintability, or provide short-term rust protection.
