Oriented Electrical Steel

Oriented electrical steel, also known as cold-rolled oriented silicon steel (English name: Grain Oriented Flatrolled Electrical Steel), refers to cold-rolled electrical steel containing 2.9%~3.5% Si and a certain law and direction in the crystal structure of the steel plate. Oriented electrical steel is an indispensable soft magnetic material in the power industry, which is mainly used in transformers, rectifiers, reactors and large motors. The Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China announced that it ruled that there was dumping of imported oriented electrical steel products originating in Japan, South Korea and the European Union, harming China's domestic oriented electrical steel industry, and decided to impose anti-dumping duties on imported oriented electrical steel products originating in these countries and regions from July 23, with a tax rate of 37.3% to 46.3%, and an implementation period of five years.

The key to the production of silicon steels with a Gaussian texture lies in the use of secondary recrystallization. In order to achieve secondary recrystallization, it is usually necessary to add normal grain growth inhibitors such as MnS to the alloy. The grain growth inhibitor must be diffusely distributed in the alloy matrix in the form of hybrids, which can effectively prevent the normal growth of the matrix crystal pull when the second recrystallization occurs, and at the same time, it is required to be easily eliminated in the final high-temperature annealing, so as not to deteriorate the magnetic properties of the product. In secondary recrystallization, the oriented nucleus of secondary grain growth is mainly produced by appropriate cold rolling process and recrystallization annealing. Since phase transitions can disrupt grain orientation, it is critical to maintain a single phase during heat treatment.
Cold-rolled electrical silicon steels sheet, divided into oriented silicon steels sheet, non-oriented silicon steels sheets and DW material. The common thickness of cold-rolled non-oriented silicon steel sheet for motor is 0.35 and 0.50mm, and their silicon content is generally low, while the common thickness of cold-rolled oriented silicon steels sheet for transformer is 0.20, 0.30, 0.35 and 0.50mm, and their silicon content is generally high.
